I'm Sicko

Yep, that's right I have so many diagnoses' I can't even remember them all. But this isn't about me, it's about the 42 million of you out there without healthcare. I'm fortunate to have retired from a state job with Ohio and to have the best healthcare in the world MEDICARE.

Michael Moore's movie starts this weekend, please take time out to see this important movie by a true American Patriot. He's gotten great reviews from people in all political parties, in all walks of life. Remember the woman who died on the floor of the ER in CA? what about the man with spinal cord injury who was dumped on the street in CA earlier this year? Our healthcare system is in serious need of renovations.

Kinship

Today on my walk with Scout my neighbor stopped me to tell me about his sister. She has MS and years ago rented my house when I lived elsewhere. I don't know the complete history but Scott (neighbor) doesn't like her husband. I get the feeling he drinks too much for Scott's comfort. Anyway, his sister is being arrested today. Apparently she embezzled $700 from the bank where she works.

This is so sad, why is my first response sadness? Because as another person with a disability, I automatically think that she took the money because of poverty and a need to pay for meds or something like that. I have no reason to think this other than the fact that she is disabled. I believe she is a decent and honest person, she was pretty consistent with rent, although late much of the time. She never missed a payment or anything like that.

I guess I feel a kinship with other people struggling with disability like myself.

I hope everything goes ok with her and I'll be praying for her.
